Hello Everyone,
As we welcome spring and start getting outdoors to enjoy the warmer weather, fish have already started doing the same. Spring-time is one of the best times to get out and take a child fishing. The weather usually isn't too hot or too cold , the fish are active, and children are usually excited to get outside after being cooped up during the winter. Fishing can be a great time for family/friend bonding, as well as help teach children things about nature, patience, and many other good values.
Today, I'm offering you a chance to help add a little excitement to one young boy or girl's spring-time: I will be giving away one Wright & McGill "Skeet Reese Jr. Champion spincast combo". The package contains a spincast (push-button) rod and reel with line pre-spooled, casting weight, hat, and a DVD! In the DVD, former Bassmaster Classic champion Skeet Reese teaches his daughters and the viewers about fishing with the kit. Skeet Reese has won over 2.5 million dollars fishing B.A.S.S tournaments, and now he's on your television teaching your child/relative how to fish! how cool is that? All you have to do to enter, is: 1) "Like" the page "Massachusetts Fishing Advocacy" on Facebook, and 2) Send me an e-mail at MattShutta at Gmail dot com explaining who you would give this package to if you won, and why you think that child deserves it. I will pick a winner in a few weeks, or when I get at least 25 entries. (You do NOT need to reside in MA to enter this giveaway.)
Please pass this on and let your friends enter for their children if you don't have a child to give the package to. Remember, children are the future of our sport!
Massachusetts Fishing Advocacy was created to provide information about (and fight against) unnecessary bans on lead use in MA waters, as well as support and promote all levels of fishing in the state (from recreational to professional), on the water safety, fishing access, boat access, water quality, habitat preservation, as well as many other things involving the great fisheries in our state.

Bass enjoy the warm spring weather too!
The unusually warm weather we've been having in MA seems to have been effecting the bass, as well as people. I got out Friday after work and got my first fish of the season; a 4lb. 10oz. largemouth! Details of the catch can be read HERE.
Get out with your family and friends (or alone), enjoy the weather, and try your luck catching a giant spring-time bass!

Help Fight Against Unnecessary Lead Bans
After deliberating for a while about whether or not to do it, I decided to make a video asking for help from people to speak up and fight against the unnecessary lead ban our state has put into effect. A video will hopefully catch more people's attention than simple text posts. I absolutely hate talking on camera, but it had to be done.. Pass the video along if you'd like.
